Earlier this week, 12 people were arrested in a drug bust in Jackson. According to WJTV News Channel 12, this was part of a special operation initially conducted from May 11-13, 2016. Certain hotels in the area were targeted for this joint operation.

Although very few details about the drug bust were released, we do know that law enforcement officers with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics were involved in the bust. Charges included possession of meth, marijuana and PCP.

Drug convictions can have terrible long term effects on a person’s life. A conviction could mean the loss of the right to hold office, the loss of the right to have a professional license, the loss of federal benefits, the inability to obtain good employment, just to mention a few of the negative collateral consequences of a drug conviction.
