Drug Conviction registration

The United States Congress recently passed the Adam Wash Act. This Act has the effect of setting up a National Registration for people convicted of most types of sex crimes. Once convicted the person has to register where they live and re-register when they change their address or move to another state. Some States like Georgia have passed stringent laws prohibiting a convicted sex offender from living near a school, church, playground, or near any place where children play. There is currently a Constitutional challenge to the Georgia statute.

Now there are States that are requiring certain drug offenders to register. This is indeed am interesting trend across the country. http://www.jointogether.org/news/headlines/inthenews/2006/online-registries-of-drug.html
