Jackson Man Charged With Aggravated Assault

Over the weekend, a man in Jackson was arrested and charged with domestic aggravated assault. Although very few details about this case have been released, we do know that a local man was arrested and accused of shooting his wife. According to WJTV News Channel 12, 54-year-old Tony Hampton allegedly shot his wife in the leg.

For a portion of time on Saturday, he was considered “at large.” When law enforcement officers arrested him, he was charged with domestic aggravated assault. Simple and aggravated assault charges are prohibited by Mississippi Code Annotated, Section 97-3-7.

Thankfully, his wife’s injury was not considered life threatening. No information has been released on whether or not any additional charges have been made in this case.
