Murder Victim Identified

Charles R. “Chuck” Mullins handles felony and misdemeanor cases in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi. Authorities have identified the woman found dead in a truck on Sept. 17 in rural Hancock County.

County Coroner Norma Stiglet says the body of 30-year-old Natasha Carpenter of Amarillo, Texas, was found inside a burning 18-wheeler.

Officials told the Sea Coast Echo in Bay St. Louis that Carpenter’s body was found wrapped in a sheet or tarp inside the burning truck.

Long-distance truck driver Mark Anthony Rice has been charged with capital murder, arson, and destruction of material evidence. He is being held without bond in the county jail.
Stiglet did not release a cause of death.

Sheriff Steve Garber says the investigation is continuing.
